Continuing in a timeline years ahead, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set in Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker’s golden years.

The question remains: where is Luke? After the destruction of Vader and the death star, a new evil regime has risen from the ashes calling themselves The First Order. Princess Leia has changed her title to general, and leads the Resistance, an opposing force to the Dark side.

Jedi’s are a myth and the Force has been quiet for too long. The Dark side has tipped the scales as they gain power, but a lighter power has been found. Two nobodies find themselves fighting in a war they didn’t want to be a part of, only to find their skills are necessary to the cause.

The Force Awakens brings back everything that worked in Episodes 4-6 and reminds fans just how good the Star Wars story is. From the intensity of the Dark side versus Light, to epic battles, to bringing back old characters everyone loves, The Force Awakens renewed fan’s hope that these sequels will do justice to the old story.

There can only be positive reviews about this because it really was as awesome as everyone has been saying it is. The new cast are easy to adjust to and are great additions to this story, even though it might be a bit distracting to play the “I-know-you- you-were-in____” game. J.J. Abrams takes the viewers to new worlds and darker characters to deal with. The spoilers are nothing too shocking because in the moment they are predictable; it doesn’t make it any less of a big deal though.

What makes it great is the familiarity the movie gives, despite being set in the future and with fresh faces. Rey’s planet is similar to Anakin and Luke’s Tatooine as a desert, dry planet. There’s also a scene reminiscent to the popular Cantina bar where Rey, Finn, and Han enter a place like this, full of different lifeforms, while a band plays in a corner. There’s also a certain ship that that makes an appearance and brings a smile to everyone’s face. The Force Awakens is a great blend of the old meeting the new.

This Star Wars sequel is the reboot the story needs to gather new fans as well as make sure the old ones aren’t neglected. For those first-timers going in blind, welcome, and enjoy.
