As far as sequels go, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues brings back the same comedy, cameos and one-liners we loved in the first Anchorman.

It’s the same anchor team, new city as Ron Burgundy (Ferrell) and his crew take on the Big Apple. The San Diego news team is hired to join the first 24-hours news station, GNN. His new anchor-enemy? Jack Lime (Marsden), a handsome, young man who has the respect of the station. Not to be outshone, Burgundy places a bet with Lime as to who can earn the most ratings for the first day. With the dreaded 2 a.m. slot, Burgundy re-writes news history and changes the game. However with great ratings, the power goes to Burgundy’s head and creates tension with his crew.

What works in favor of this Anchorman sequel is that they have the same director and writers that did the first movie. The jokes are all new and the plot takes on an original twist. With a different city, anchor enemies, and a family being torn apart, Burgundy has a lot more drama in his life. Even with a few familiar moments copied into the sequel, like the epic fight scene, it only adds to the enjoyment of the movie.

Anchorman 2 has a big cast list with many cameos which is a nice surprise when you see who they are. Even as a small role, it’s a fun addition to the movie. Anyone who enjoyed the first Anchorman will find the sequel to be just as good and anyone who hasn’t seen the movie should give it a try.
