This TV star hasn’t quite broken out on the silver screen yet but has no problem getting roles on various television shows. Freema Agyeman might be more well-known for her role as the character Martha Jones on “Doctor Who”. Lately she has taken a steady role on the CW’s “The Carrie Diaries” a prequel to the hit show “Sex and the City” following Carrie Bradshaw in her junior year of high school.
Agyeman’s character on “Doctor Who” was a remarkable role as the first black female companion the Doctor ever had. Her character is a role model for girls to look up to, as Martha was a medical student and saved the Doctor a few times. Her character stood out because she is one of the few companions (maybe only?) to tell the Doctor she is done travelling time and space, it’s time for her to go back to her regular life.
Her character, Martha, also appeared in a few episodes of “Torchwood”, the “Doctor Who” spinoff that revolved around charismatic Jack Harkness.
Perhaps her role in the American show “The Carrie Diaries” will give her exposure to future American shows and films.
