For those of you who don’t know and for those of you who have been anticipating another Captain America movie since The Avengers first came out, here are some things to get excited about the sequel.
Steve Rogers had been buried under ice for decades until SHIELD discovered him. Rogers has a lot to catch up to since the last period of time he remembered was the 1940s. What is a cell phone? What is a flat screen TV? He was somewhat caught up when he battled Loki in New York. Agent Coulson had brought him and the other Avengers to the massive aero-ship being used as SHIELD headquarters that was full of high-tech gear.
Now in The Winter Soldier, Rogers has a new enemy to face. The rest of the Avengers are elsewhere in the universe (Thor being on a totally different planet) but there will still be some familiar faces. Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders will be back as Maria Hill, and of course Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
Based on the trailer, it looks like the bad guys aren’t some random villain that pop out of nowhere but are from inside SHIELD. Nick Fury warns Rogers, “You need to keep both eyes open” which could be a hint that the people he’s supposed to trust aren’t good. What will happen when Rogers finds out who the Winter Soldier really is?
Captain America: The Winter Soldier premieres April 4 in the U.S. and March 28 in the U.K.
